Welcome to Wonderful week 1
mysterious Monday
TED TALK Tuesday*
*- Every Tuesday is TED Talk Tuesday. This is a family assignment. It is unorthodox, but I am sure you will come to love this time. The assignment is to sit down with at least one other family member (but the more the merrier) and watch any TED Talk. Collectively fill out your guided discussion form after the talk and turn in for an amazing 15 Dojo points. This whole process won't take more than 25 minutes.
Click the header above to be directed to the TED Talk home page. There are talks to suit all tastes. If you would like a suggestion on some of my favorites, just send me a mail.

Daily COntinuous Homework Assignment
From Monday to THURSDAY, this is the standing homework assignment.
During assessment times and special projects, there may be additional homework including research papers, essays, outside reading, and/or projects. We also use the award-winning research based curriculum workbook, SpringBoard. These assignments will appear under the weekly plan. Homework is critical to learning and success in my class. The average daily requirement is between 30-45 minutes, well below the recommended 1 hour to 1.5 hours for Pre-AP classes.
The only holidays from daily homework are the following:
If your student says they do not have homework, kindly direct them to this section of the webpage. If you ever have any questions or concerns about the amount of homework or the rigor of assignments, please contact me. I can explain the teaching rationale and expected learning outcomes. I love to meet with parents, and I respond to all emails within 24 hours. Please contact me using the "About Me / Contact Me" tab under "Useful Info" or email me at [email protected]. All questions and concerns are valid, so never hesitate to contact me.
- A 300 word blog or journal entry
- Two meaningful comments on other students' blogs and one response to the daily "Talk Talk on Writing" prompt.
- A Six-way Paragraph's daily reader and skill builder

- The week before Winter Break
- The week of Final Exams
- In very rare cases, I do reward classes for exceptional work with a Homework Holiday. This will be clearly noted in the Weekly Plan.
