Rigorous Reading Camp 2013
When: October 25th – 26th (Friday, we’ll leave at 2:25. Saturday, we’ll return at 3:30.)
Where: Shalimar Retreat (http://www.shalimarretreat.com/) This is located in Panama City Beach.
What: You may have heard of Common Core and the shift to more rigorous reading and the ability to cite textual evidence to support written arguments. This camp is designed to introduce the students to some tricks and tips to become unCommonly good readers and researchers. Although the focus is on academics, we are going to have a great time learning. We will have a midnight field day that includes a scavenger hunt and spooky mystery that requires the students to use the strategies they learned from earlier camp classes. We also will do a low ropes course and additional camp classes on Saturday to build trust and critical thinking skills. SUPERVISION: There will be one adult chaperone to every seven students. Many of the chaperones will be teachers from BPA. If you'd like to chaperone, let me know.
How much? For transportation, accommodation, class workbooks, meals, and the rope course- the cost will be the shockingly low price of $75.
Mail me today to reserve your seat. Money is not due until October 15th, but sign up now to hold your seat.
